Inspiring creativity
Students can engage in a variety of activities which allow them to explore and express their creativity.

Expression Activities

Expression activities allow our students think creatively, work together, learn new skills, practise perseverance and develop their identities and thoughts.

Creativity and Culture

Students try out a wide range of activities across fields such as art, music, dance and drama, using purpose-built facilities such as our music rooms, amphitheatres and exercise studios. They gain experience not only in their chosen activities, but in teamwork, perseverance, responsibility and leadership as they specialise during their senior years.

At the Aga Khan Academy Hyderabad, various enrichment clubs are offered. Students are given the opporutnity to choose from numerous age-appropriate activities that are led by a teacher who has the expert knowledge.

Whilst activities take place according to demand, availability or student initiatives, in recent years students have been able to try:

  • Dance club
  • Film club
  • Environmental club
  • Coding club

Music, movement and stomping

Stomping continues to be, for me, an enchanting experience at the Academy. The eccentricity of this activity is what attracted me towards it in the first place. In fact, music has always been a huge part of my life and I occasionally do play percussion instruments. However, I still find stomping and the idea of making music from objects that are termed useless to be an intrinsically eccentric and rewarding exercise. Stomping is something I have discovered only after having come to the Academy. When I am stomping, I have the best time as I connect with the members of the team with such heterogeneous cultural backgrounds. The mere fact that every one of us in the team is new to stomping has allowed us to explore with zero inhibitions. What best describes the challenges we face is that our approach to music is spontaneous and eclectic. This requires us to be in sync with every artist’s mind set and we have to bank on our intuition to predict each other’s moves. This makes music a melodious meditation for me! My biggest takeaway is how stomping helps boost my confidence as I discover a hidden artist in me drumming new stories through new rhythms. Tackling climate change at the Organic Farm

At the start of the new academic year, I chose to take on the Organic Farm with 27 other students. It has been both a challenging and wonderful experience for me. Growing up in a concrete urban jungle, organic farming has given me the opportunity to be closer to nature, while understanding how to grow chemical-free crops and preserve soil nutrients. Our goal is to make the best use of available land through sustainable farming techniques including organic manure, crop rotation, and companion planting to make better, tastier, higher, consumer friendly yield. Asking group members to chalk out a plan to strategise perceptual and procedural knowledge on organic farming proved to be daunting task for me and other group leaders. After prolonged and meaningful discussions and deliberations we ensured all the members are on the same page in terms of our plan of action. This includes cultivation, sowing seeds or planting samplings, using organic manure to increase or preserving soil nutrients. As as a team we have come a long way and the journey is on going. Our best is yet to come.
