Service Learning
Service learning is central to the ethos of a student’s education and experience at an Academy. Students live this in practice through the curriculum and student life, enriched by the Aga Khan Curricular Strands.
Service learning is a significant aspect of Academy life. Theoretical lessons, simulations and roleplays give students an insight into the theory of leadership. The strands interweaving their studies: ethics, pluralism, cultures, governance and civil society, and economics for development, help them connect the theory with real life issues. And service learning helps them try out their academic knowledge in the community.
But the benefits already extend far beyond giving the students knowledge and self belief. They partner with local organisations, and often branches of the AKDN, to significantly enhance the lives of others in a sustainable way.
